Nun wird sie „erpresst“, die Führung über eine Sondereinheit des LAPD zu übernehmen, die Fälle erneut aufrollt, in denen die Verurteilungen wegen neuer Beweise zweifelhaft geworden sind: Hayes wurde mit Kokain erwischt, ihr droht somit Gefängnis, zudem macht ihre Mutter gerade Wahlkampf für einen Senatoren-Posten. Nun wird sie in ein Wespennest geschubst und ist von allen Seiten Anfeindungen ausgesetzt.
