Makoto Saeki est la quinzième héritière d'une lignée de prêtresses. Conformément à la tradition, elle a le don de voir et de communiquer avec Gintaro, esprit d'un renard argenté devenu messager du kami local, Inari. Comme tout messager, Gintaro peut lire l'avenir et réaliser des prédictions, un pouvoir dont il use lorsque Makoto en a vraiment besoin. Gingitsune, c'est l'histoire d'amitié entre une jeune fille espiègle et un esprit bourru.
