She became known to a wider audience primarily through her role as Tatort Commissioner Martina Bönisch, which she played between 2012 and 2023. In addition to numerous stage productions—such as Maria Stuart at the Residenztheater Munich—she has appeared before the camera in over 70 film and television productions since 2002. Anna Schudt grew up in the Egg district of Constance as the elder of two daughters born to a biochemist and a body therapist. She gained her first theatrical experience at the Theater Konstanz. At the age of 17, she began her acting training at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich. In 1994, during the artistic directorship of Dieter Dorn, she became a permanent ensemble member of the Münchner Kammerspiele. This was followed by engagements at the Schaubühne Berlin and, starting in 2001, at the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel (Bavarian State Theater) in Munich. There, her roles included Louise in Kabale und Liebe (Intrigue and Love) and Sonya in Onkel Wanja (Uncle Vanya). In 2002, she and the ensemble were awarded the Kurt Meisel Prize for their performance in Hekabe (Hecuba). In 2006, she was once again honored with the Kurt Meisel Prize for her portrayal of Maria Stuart in the drama of the same name. In 2010, she played the title role in Anna Karenina at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus. Since
